In a park in Dublin, Ireland, is this marvelous statute of hometown boy Oscar Wilde, who wrote many wonderful stories such as The Selfish Giant ( Giants! ) and The Canterville Ghost ( Spooky Classics ).

Jim stands before the entrance to Newgrange, the man-made hill atop a natural hill that was the destination of Ossian and Patrick on their walk.
Built to worship the sun "god" 500 years before Egypt's pyramids, and before the Celts had wheels, Newgrange's huge stones were carried by barge for 100 miles, drawn by ropes up the hill and set by hand.
Yet, the tunnel into the heart of the structure remains watertight today, and on the shortest day of the year, the sun rising across the valley enters its light through the opening above the doorway and lights up the entire tunnel. (Celtic Treasures)
Jim performs in Dublin at a wonderful school.

On a bluff on Ireland's western coast stands a reminder of the Spanish Armada ships that escaped Sir Francis Drake and the storms of the English Channel and headed home. Some passed Ireland, some sank off the rocky Coast. ( The Queen's Pirate )
